For some of us school has already started and for others it is right around the corner.  With the start of a new school year means school pictures are soon to follow.

This year, why not step up those average school pictures and schedule a NON-School Picture Portrait session! This session runs from Aug. 13 - Sept. 15.

For $65 you get a school portrait session and a complimentary stainless steel water bottle or coffee mug with your child’s picture on it.

Sessions will last up to 15 minutes and are designed for one child per session. If you’d like to reserve a session for 2 or more children, contact the studio for special pricing.

Everyone always says since I’m the photographer, I must have tons of beautiful portraits of my children. Well you know the saying about the cobbler’s kids….well same theory applies to the photographers children!

Preparing for a session with my own children can be traumatic. They’ve seen mommy’s camera too many times, they don’t want to wear what I pick out for them, and getting the “look” I see in my mind is never going to be an easy task.  But, being mommy, I know how important it is to capture these moments in their lives. I don’t want to miss anything and I don’t want to look back and say I wish I had taken more pictures.

I do not attempt the formal portraits more than 2 times a year with all of them together. Our yearly beach portrait is the most important.

This year, Josie had different ideas. She didn’t like the ocean any more. Wouldn’t step foot on the sand. I had to forget my idea of them dressed in white outfits on the golden sand. But the backup plan worked beautifully. Maybe even better than my beach idea.

(BTW - of course after the portraits were done, and on the final day of our stay at the beach, Josie decided she liked the “big waves” and we couldn’t get her off the beach!)

Really mom, are you done YET?"I'm NOT going to look at the camera anymore"july4th43wjuly4th38wjuly4th02wgroup04wcopy-of-july4th08wjuly4th49dw

Little “L” came in today for his 4-year portrait! I’ve been photographing him since he was snug inside mommy! It is always so much fun to watch the children I photograph grow up through the lens of my camera! Here’s “L” in one of his newborn photos…and then - a few sneak peeks from today’s session.

1 year Milestone!

February 13, 2010

Little N. came in this morning for his 1 year birthday session. He was a mover - already walking and not so interested in getting his pictures taken. Regardless, I was able to capture all that cuteness!!!

I met this family Saturday evening for some portraits on the family farm. The littlest member didn’t want much to do with me at first - but she warmed up there at the end and I caught some of those cute dimples.

I love photographing families in places that have a special meaning to them.

This morning I had the pleasure of photographing a little girl in her First Communion gown. This is a special time in her life….what a little princess! I can’t wait until I’m dress shopping for my own little girl next year!

Of course little sister had to jump in for one or two in her special dress! We really had a great time in the studio this morning!

Last year it seemed I was overrun with little girls! Now I seem to have more little men visiting me at the studio. Mr. Liam came for a quick mini session! Boy was he QUICK. He seemed pretty much up for just about anything I had put in front of him..he replied with a “SURE” any time I asked him if he wanted his picture taken…but standing still for a picture was a different story. I still caught those gorgeous eyes of his!!!!

And Mr. Brody came in for his 9 month session. WOW time flies…I remember when he was still squirmming in mommy’s belly for her maternity protraits!!! Mom better watch out…he’s gonna be a heartbreaker!
